Questions

Overview

We’re seeking up to five steering group members, to help facilitate the development and growth of Catalyst, a collaborative network of people and organisations working to collectively realise a digitally enabled and resilient social sector.

Since launching in 2019, Catalyst has developed an ecosystem of thousands of social sector actors (nonprofits, digital partners, intermediaries and grantmakers) and created an ecology of interconnected support initiatives (skills and training offers, grantmaking programmes, resources and services run by a multitude of partners), networks, community spaces, learning infrastructures and digital commons.

Catalyst is described in different ways by different collaborators, depending on their perspective - here’s a flavour.

We are a values-led initiative, as we’ve outlined in this blog. We are seeking steering group members who are passionate about creating social change and share our core values of love, reciprocity, collectivism, equity and curiosity.

A note on the process

We’re running an application process which aims to be inclusive and transparent, modelled on previous recruitments we’ve run with the support of Collaborative Future, which helps both parties to grow and learn together.

Taking a CV-less approach means we’ll be focusing on the most critical things to compare applicants on, and by answering our three questions you can feel confident you’ve highlighted the most relevant values, experience and skills that you have.

We will strive to ensure that voices often marginalised are represented in this forum so that the outcomes of our work are positively impacted by working with a diverse range of perspectives.

About the role

The purpose of the Steering Group is to provide strategic guidance and support to the core team of Producers during a period of strategic review, up to April 2023. The group will be drawn from a range of Catalyst stakeholder groups as identified in the current stakeholder map, to ensure it is representative of the communities we serve. The Steering Group will ensure that Catalyst remains true to its core values and the wider communities it ultimately serves.

Catalyst is an initiative which is incubated by CAST. We are currently in a period of transition and the findings from the strategic review and network consultations will determine what comes next. We are seeking people with a range of relevant skillsets and experience to help us evolve Catalyst to the next stage. We are particularly looking for expertise in the following specialist areas: legal, governance, operations and strategy.

What you’ll be doing

The steering group will act as a sounding board, providing independent input from the perspective of people with lived and / or learned experience. It is not an operational forum and will therefore not be involved in the day-to-day running of Catalyst. It is a strategic governance forum dedicated to guiding us through the period of a strategic review.
