Data protection officer:  Megan Gray - [email protected]

As part of the recruitment process, Catalyst will collect and process personal data relating to job applicants. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use that data and to meeting our data protection obligations.

What information does Catalyst collect?

Catalyst collects a range of information about you. This includes:

We collect this information in a variety of ways. For example, data might be contained in your application form, obtained from your passport or other identity documents, obtained through our equal opportunities monitoring form, or collected through interviews or pre-interview tasks.

We may also collect personal data about you from third parties, such as references supplied by former employers. We will only seek information from third parties once a job offer has been made to you, and we will inform you that we are doing so.

We store all personal data in our secure Google Drive, which can be only accessed by named staff members in the pursuit of their duties. We also use typeform as the platform for our application forms. Typeform’s privacy notice is available here. Data may also be stored in our email system during the application process.

Why does Catalyst process personal data?

Catalyst needs to process data to enter into an employment contract, and to ensure that we are complying with our legal obligations. For example, we are required to check a successful applicant's eligibility to work in the UK before employment starts.

We have a legitimate interest in processing personal data during the recruitment process and for keeping records of the process. Processing data from job applicants allows us to manage the recruitment process, assess and confirm a candidate's suitability for employment and decide on which applicant we will offer the job to. We may also need to process data from job applicants to respond to and defend against legal claims.

Some special categories of personal data, such as information about health or medical conditions, or family circumstances, will be processed if we receive requests to make reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process for candidates who have a disability or caring commitments. This is to carry out our obligations and exercise specific rights in relation to employment.
