Overview

We’re seeking a facilitator to work with our core team of Producers to help with the development and growth of Catalyst, a collaborative network of people and organisations working to transform civil society via the power of digital, data and design.

In its first two years since launch, Catalyst has mobilised a collective effort of thousands of collaborators (nonprofits, digital partners, intermediaries and grantmakers) and created an ecology of interconnected support initiatives) (skills and training offers, grantmaking programmes, resources and services run by a multitude of partners), networks, community spaces, learning infrastructures and digital commons.

Catalyst is described in different ways by different collaborators, depending on their perspective - here’s a flavour.

The process

We’re running an inclusive and transparent application process to make these opportunities as accessible as possible and ensure a diverse range of people are able to demonstrate their fit. Requesting a proposal and taking a task based interview approach means we’ll be focusing on the most critical things to compare applicants on, and by submitting your proposal you can feel confident you’ve highlighted the most relevant experience and skills you have.

About the role

Catalyst is in a period of transition, mirroring the multiple deep transitions occurring in the world currently. Coming out of the crisis response period during 2020 - 2021, we are now responding to a need to re-evaluate and clarify our purpose and define our next steps. We aspire to do this collectively with our network, so we will be designing a review programme which will involve engagement of multiple stakeholders, to help us co-create a new vision and ambition for Catalyst.

We are in need of a range of facilitation support to work with our Producers to help them to make sense of the Catalyst universe and its current position relative to the needs of the civil society sector. We aspire to surface new ideas, concepts and visions based on the collective ambitions of those within the network.

Initially we need a facilitator for a core team retreat event over two days at a UK-based location (which we have yet to confirm). The purpose of this is to dive deep into what we know, what we don’t know and what we think we know. We’re seeking someone who can hold the space with curiosity and care and enable us all to participate fully and equally. We’d like to work with someone who can design creative and interactive exercises to surface different forms of knowledge and insight, including a deep-dive immersion into existing data. The outcome of the retreat will be to have a clearer plan for the review process itself and some priority areas to focus on.

Longer term we envisage working with the right individual multiple times throughout the review project lifecycle. However the initial scope is just for the retreat and follow up / debrief.
